Best Hair for Babywearing(and toddler wrangling)

Since I have 3 kids and I still need to do housework as well as play with and care for them all I've been doing a whole lot of babywearing.  I mostly wear Abby in my Moby or Ergo(I'm making a woven wrap but that's for a whole other post).  But there are times where I will wear Hayleigh while Abby is napping just so I can do dishes or vacuum or fold laundry and not have to worry what she is doing in the other room.  Because let me tell you.  Hayleigh is a tornado.
I never realized before babywearing, and before having children for that matter, that there were certain hair styles that you didn't really get to wear anymore.  I mean, you could wear them.  But they were likely to be destroyed or yanked on pretty quickly.  So I have compiled a list of my favorite hair styles for babywearing and toddler wrangling that are more than just a ponytail.  Some of them are quick.  Others take a little more time.

These are in no particular order.  I also haven't tried them all.  I will tell you that with the ones I have tries pins are your best friend!!  It's a good thing you can get likes 500 of them at the dollar store for $1.

This one works wonderfully. Especially to keep those little hairs at the bottom out of toddler hands.

I haven't tried this one yet but plan to try it this week.

I'm not sure that I'm bold enough to wear a big bow on my head. Though, Madelynn would love it.

I've done a variation of this. If you use enough pins it works great.

My hair isn't short enough for this one. But it's cute and I know moms with short hair need cute too.

This one is my absolute all time favorite. I start my side braids at the front to include my bangs.

Here's another variation of it. Hers is a bit messier.

I like the idea of not having to braid at all but I don't think it would work with heavier hair like mine.

I would really like to try this variation of a bun.

I've done this to Madelynn's hair. I don't think it'll work with heavier hair.

If you try them out let me know how they work for you.  Also let me know if you have any other styles that are your favorite.  I'm always willing to try something new!

  1. Katie is always wearing a flexi clip, fast easy and pretty. She is an avid baby wearer too!
