imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails

A few weeks ago I received the Holiday VoxBox from Influenster.  Inside there were lots of different products.  Everything from gum and makeup to soap.
I have never had a manicure in my life.  I've always wanted one but I can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on my nails.  Even when I was alittle girl though I wanted to get a manicure.  For Christmas and my birthday my aunt would always buy me press on nails.  I loved them!  I'd always open them right away and put them on.  If I was lucky they'd stay on all the way until bedtime.  Then after that all hope was lost.  By the morning I'd have maybe 1 left on, 5 in my bed, and 4 who knows where eaten by the press on nail gnomes.
So when I opened the imPress nails I was WAY skeptical.  I mean, press on nails for adults?  How were they gonna make that work?  I have diapers to change, laundry to do, food to cook, and a dish washer to load.  Not to mention how many times I wash my hands a day.
I went through the nails and picked out the ones that fit my fingers.  I was able to find a perfect fit for each one.  I cleaned my nails with the little cleaning cloth they include.  Then I started applying.  They seemed to stick pretty good.

They were a little long for my taste.  Also, I couldn't effectively change Hayleigh's diaper with the length they were.  I was a little worried about scratching her when I changed her clothes as well.  So I got out the nail clippers and trimmed them just a little bit.  Then they were prefect!  I couldn't wait to show people.

I showed my husband.  He didn't really care.  Madelynn thought they were beautiful!  But Madelynn thinks everything is beautiful.  To get an honest opinion I had to ask my sister-in-law Amy.  She laughed at me for trimming them.  But I think over all she liked them.
I had them on for 3 days!  3 DAYS!  I couldn't and still can't believe it!  They're press on nails and they stayed on that long!  I showed my husband's cousin on the third day.  She was a press on nail fanatic when she was a kid too and couldn't believe it.  On that third day they weren't even falling off.  I took them off myself.  I'm sure they would have lasted at least a week if I had left them on.
I am in love with imPress nails.  They're only $5.99 for solid colors and $7.99 for patterns.  That's less than a fourth of what a good manicure costs.

Utterly Yours Breast Pillow

If you're a nursing mother you know that there can be many challenges and obstacles in nursing.  If you're a larger breasted woman you have the extra challenge of keeping your breast in the proper position when gravity is working against you.  I often find myself having to support my breast so that my baby can stay latched on properly and not suffocate.
While browsing the internet one day I came across Utterly Yours Breast Pillows.  Since I started nursing my first child I had dreamed of something like this.  I even said to my husband once that I needed a nursing pillow for under my breast not one for under my baby.

The Utterly Yours Breast Pillow works wonderfully.  Using it was a whole new nursing experience.  I had a hand completely free to help my older daughter if she needed it and I didn't have to readjust after.  Rather than not really being able to help her but doing it anyway then readjusting my breast when I was done.  My hand and wrist also didn't ache as the sometimes do after I'm done nursing my baby from having to hold them in an awkward position to support my breast.
The Utterly Yours Breast Pillow is made out of high density memory foam.  There is an anti slip cover over the pillow that is machine washable.
To use the Utterly Yours Breast Pillow you compress it then place it under your breast.  It conforms to your breast and body so that it is comfortable and not awkward.  The cover has anti slip grippies like you see on the bottom of sleeper feet.  That way the pillow stays exactly where you place it.

I definitely recommend this for any nursing mom that is large breasted and is having support issues.  Or if you're an expecting mom you might want to consider purchasing this.

ABC Family's "Switched at Birth: Volume 1"

Released today by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, ABC Family's "Switched At Birth: Volume 1".

"From the studio that brought you “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” comes a groundbreaking new drama about the upheaval that two teen girls experience when they discover that they were accidentally switched at birth. Starring Lea Thompson (Back To The Future, “Caroline In The City”), Constance Marie (“George Lopez”), Vanessa Marano (“Gilmore Girls”), Katie Leclerc (“Veronica Mars”), D.W. Moffett (“Friday Night Lights”), and Lucas Grabeel (Disney Channel’s “High School Musical”)."

"Bay Kennish (Marano), a talented graffiti artist with an edgy streak, grew up in a wealthy family with happily married parents and an older brother. Daphne Vasquez (Leclerc), an athletic teenager who lost her hearing at an early age, grew up with a single mother in a working class neighborhood. When the girls’ worlds collide, family bonds are tested, new romances are sparked, and they start to learn that it’s who they are inside that matters, not where they grew up. Relive the girls’ journey and catch up before the premiere with Switched At Birth: Volume 1. Including all 10 episodes plus exclusive collectible iPod skins, this two-disc set is a must-own for every fan!"

I received a copy of "Switched at Birth: Volume 1" early to review.  I really liked the whole season.  The acting is great.  The story line is also good.  Sometimes it can get alittle strange.  And there are parts that are very "high school drama".  But I expected that if they're portraiting what teenagers in this situation would really go through.
The families are exactly what you would expect.  The Kennish family is well off.  They have lots of money and send their children to a private school.  The Vasquez family is an extended family living a middle class life.  When thrown together they don't mix well.
The girls seem like pretty average teenagers as well.  Except for Daphne's deafness of course.  However, I don't like that Bay is "the girl that sleeps around" at the beginning and everyone acts like that's normal.  They do redeem her character later.  But I think they could have left that out.
This is on ABC Family.  My family is still young.  I definitely wouldn't watch it with my girls until they were at least 16.  But for an adult that likes girly/dramatic shows I really like it.
I definitely can't wait for the next season that starts in January.

Oral B Stages Party

I was given the chance to host an Oral B Stages party by MommyParties.
My party was last week on Thursday.  We had fun.  The kids had popcorn, watched, Winnie the Pooh, checked out their tooth brushes, and answered some flash card questions.  I think the kids favorite part was the popcorn.
All of the kid watching Winnie the Pooh and eatting popcorn.
The 2-4 year olds.  Yes, that is Madelynn on the left.  Yes, she wore her sleeper pajamas all day.
The 2-4 year olds with their toothpaste and toothbrushes.  They look excited right?
Even Hayleigh got in on the fun.  I was going to put her and my nephew Elam next to each other with their toothbrushes.  But if you've ever laid 2 5 month old babies together you know they can be unintentionally violent.  Someone might have lost an eye if I did that.

The party was great and all of the kids are now equip with toothbrushes and toothpaste to keep their teeth healthy thanks to OralB and MommyParties.
